My name is Sean Kriek, I was born and raised in Utah. I am currently a Graduate Student in Ohio at Tiffin University studying for a Master of Business Administration Degree in Sports Management and will graduate in April of 2017. I am interning with the Athletic Department at Tiffin University serving in a variety of roles. I hope when I complete my degree to establish a career working with collegiate athletes at the university level.

Roles, Responsibilities, & Duties
Roles: Intern for the Tiffin University Athletic Department
Responsibilities: I was put in charge of a couple of projects when I first started this mentorship. Those projects were to work on compliance with the Clery Act and act as liaison with the athletics department and campus security, and to work on the application for a vending license. Included were various daily responsibilities assigned to me by my mentor and working with other members of the department.
Duties: Meet with all the coaches throughout the remaining months of the year to discuss, answer any questions, and help complete Clery Reports and then to submit them to Campus Security by the end of the year. Fill out the necessary paper work and contact the people necessary for inspections to obtain a vending license for the concession stand in the Heminger Center. Provide game management assistance for men's and women's home basketball games. Work with the promotions coordinator to help during games. Various office duties assigned by the athletic director.
Learning Objectives: To learn what is required to successfully operate a college athletics program and gain experience in a variety of areas of the athletic department. Work with the athletic director to understand his daily roles and responsibilities and what is required of him to ensure that all aspects of the department are running properly. Learn how to make decisions and overcome challenges and issues that regularly occur. Assist with game management and promotions for the various sports at the university.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
Hours: 10-20 Hours Per Week
Outcomes: Gain experience in the sports industry specific to my career goals (college athletics). Have a greater understanding of what an athletic director does on a regular basis. Acquire knowledge in different areas of athletics and work with other department personnel. Learn and gain skills to have the ability to manage and work during athletic events.
