This week is spring break, which means there is little happening on campus. With our winter sports seasons finished and many of the spring sports teams competing on the road I was invited to work with the athletic director and attend meetings with some of the sponsors that play a major role in Tiffin University Athletics and also are a big part of the annual fundraising event for the department the golf outing. I learned a lot about working with sponsors and building relationships with sponsors to establish long term relationships that will benefit both the university and local businesses. Fundraising is extremely important in allowing students at the university to compete in intercollegiate athletics and provide the necessary facilities and equipment to excel at a high level. This was great experience for me to learn the athletic director's role in working with corporate sponsors and fundraising for the university. I also attended a meeting with the athletic director, a construction company, a member of facilities, and the Esports coach to discuss the needs when constructing the building for the Esports program on campus. It will be a gaming arena with state of the art equipment to attract the best talent in the gaming industry. Discussed were the plans and what was need prior to breaking ground on the new building.
